Fairmont refurb nears completion
By Stewart McIntosh
COMPLETION of a £13.5 million refurbishment at Fairmont St Andrews, part
of the international Fairmont hotel group, is expected this month.
The programme included the upgrading of 115 guest rooms and 17 suites,
as well as improvements to the spa, the lobby and other public areas.
The Spa has expanded into a twelve-treatment room facility with
redesigned reception, relaxation lounge, fitness and pool facilities.
Other improvements include a new sports-themed bar and renovations of
the 15,000 sq ft conference centre. The refurbished function space
features a 6,000 sq ft ballroom, theatre for up to 120, exterior
terrace, and a ‘byre’ for themed Scottish events.
A further phase of bedroom refurbishment will begin this winter 2008, to
complete the entire guest room redesign. The hotel’s Torrance golf
course is also being improved and will re-open in 2009.
Located south of St Andrews, the 209-room resort features five dining
outlets, a 3,500 square foot spa and health club and a second 18-hole
golf course – The Devlin.
