More shed activity on back of M74 extension
By STEWART McINTOSH
PROPERTY activity around the route of the M74 Extension has moved up a
gear with developer SCOT Sheridan announcing both the purchase of, and
planning approval for, a £5 million light industrial development in
Rutherglen, close to the extension route.
The move comes just a couple of days after the diggers start work on the
extension.
SCOT Sheridan intends to develop 45,700 sq ft of quality business space
on a 2.1 acre site at Rutherglen Park, just 2.4 miles south-east of
Glasgow city centre and 2 miles from the planned Commonwealth Games
village and the site of the new National Indoor Sports Arena.
The land was purchased from Vico Properties plc and accommodation will
be available for sale or lease in

units of between 2,100 sq ft and 9,000 sq ft. Other businesses
operating in the area include a newly opened Tesco Extra store and
storage company Safestore. SCOT Sheridan expects the site to be
completed by January 2009.
David MacLachlan, SCOT Sheridan director, said: "The site already has
excellent transport links and, once the M74 is completed, will have an
enviable position just off one of the country’s most important road
routes. We’re confident that it would be an ideal location for
businesses looking to capitalise on the area’s regeneration by locating
or relocating in the area.”
